PDC Dress Code

*MASKS OR FACE SHIELDS REQUIRED FOR ALL CLASSES*

Acrobatic Dance 1, 2, 3, 4, 5:
No shoes required. Dancers MUST wear tight-fitting tops and bottoms for Acro classes to ensure that our instructors can be safe during spotting techniques.  Tights, leotards, spandex shorts, tank tops, sports bras, etc are acceptable attire.  Men may wear loose shorts but must wear tight-fitting briefs or a dance belt beneath.  

Ballet, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & Advanced Ballet:
Women: Women are to wear pink tights and a solid color leotard.  Tights must fit into the pink ballet slippers (either leather or canvas). Hair must be worn in a bun if it is of chin-length or longer.  Hair must be worn held back out of the face by a solid color headband if the hair is too short to be pulled into a low pony or bun. Women of advanced ballet may wear pink tights over their solid color leotards.  Skirts that are to be sold in the PDC boutique may be allowed once each class has proven capable of following the dress code. Skirts will be allowed at the discretion of the teacher.

Skirts:
Ballet 1: Black or Pink Ballet Skirts
Ballet 2: Black Bullet Pointe Skirts Available in the PDC Boutique
Ballet 3: Graphite or Black Ballet Skirts Available in the PDC Boutique
Ballet 4: Graphite, Black or White Ballet Skirts Available in the PDC Boutique
Advanced Ballet: Red, Graphite, Black or White Bullet Pointe Skirts Available in the PDC Boutique

Men: Men must wear black tights with a solid color shirt or tank top for all ballet classes. Biketards are also acceptable. Dance belts are required. Hair must be properly groomed.  Hair must be pulled back into a ponytail if it is of collar bone length or longer. Black ballet shoes are required. 

Warm-ups: Leg warmers & shorts may be worn for advanced ballet until degages at the barre at which the dancers will be instructed to remove their warm-ups.

Pre-pointe & Pointe I & II:
Properly fitted pointe shoes are required for these classes. Dancers are to arrive with their hair in a neatly prepared bun unless incapable of creating a bun due to hair length.  Dancers must wear pink tights in their pointe shoes and a solid color leotard. Dancers in pointe I & pointe II MUST come to class with their ribbons and elastics SECURELY attached.  

**Pre-pointe dancers must request a pointe shoe fitting with Madeleine if they do not have pointe shoes.  Skirts purchased through the PDC boutique may be worn at the discretion of the teacher. Dancers must also bring a notebook to all pointe classes.

Boys Gymnastics | 5+:
Boys must arrive wearing athletic clothing such as shorts, tank tops, t-shirts, or biketards that are deemed suitable for a beginner gymnastics class. No shoes required.  

Improvisation/Composition:
Dancers must always come prepared for improvisation/composition with socks and a notebook. Dancers may wear any dance attire of their choice as long as it is of a plain, solid color fabric pattern.  

Hip Hop 1, 2, 3, 4, 5:
Dancers in all levels will wear black high tops this season.  Many dancers will be wearing black Vans with a white stripe on the side. Dancers may wear loose clothing such as joggers, t-shirts, tank tops, sweatpants, etc.  PDC ball caps or beanies/caps of solid color may be worn at the discretion of the instructor.

*No clothing may explicitly or implicitly depict vulgar, offensive, or rude language. 

Jazz Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced:
Jazz requires dancers to tight-fitting clothing including leggings (jazz pants or solid color joggers for men), leotards, sports bras, crop tops, spandex shorts, skirts, tights, leotards, or any other solid color tight-fitting article of clothing.  Tan Jazz shoes will be required for Beginner & Intermediate Jazz recital pieces. Jazz 5 will wear tan pirouette shoes for the recital. Any color jazz shoe may be worn for weekly class. Hair must be pulled SECURELY & NEATLY BACK in a low ponytail or high bun.

Musical Theater 1 & 2:
Musical Theater 1 will require dancers to have black jazz shoes.  Musical Theater 2 will require dancers to have black jazz shoes or tan heels. Same clothing as worn in all jazz classes.  Dancers must come to class with hair pulled back but might be asked to take it down depending on the repertoire. 

Commercial Contemporary/Jazz:
Dancers in Commercial contemporary/jazz & Latin jazz must come prepared to be filmed in class with their hair NEATLY SECURED in a low ponytail or high bun. Dancers may be instructed to come with their hair in a specific style to suit the repertoire.  Pirouette shoes, jazz shoes & calf-length socks are required.

Lyrical 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Contemporary/Lyrical 4 & 5:
Turning shoes (Pirouette Shoes) are required for all lyrical/contemporary classes. Attire & hair remains the same as that of jazz, however, dancers should have convertible tights if they choose to wear tights as they may be asked to dance barefoot at times. Contemporary/lyrical dancers must come prepared with calf-length socks.

Liquid Steel Flexibility:
Comfortable clothing may be worn for this class. Dancers are allowed to wear warm-ups or sweat pants however, they must come prepared with spandex shorts or a leotard as they may be asked to remove their extra layers to see their form. 

Petite Première: Ages 2-3:
Our tiny dancers in petite Premiere class are allowed to wear any dance clothing of their choice including ballet leotards, skirts, tutus, dresses, shorts, tank tops, tights, etc. Dancers must have pink ballet shoes for recitals.  Boys may wear black ballet shoes.  Parents accompanying dancers to class should come wearing athletic clothing and wear socks or ballet slippers.  

Ballet/Jazz Combo Class:
Leotards and skirts of any style with pink or black tights may be worn. Leotards with attached skirts are permitted. Pink ballet slippers are required. Dancers MUST ARRIVE WITH THEIR HAIR NEATLY PULLED BACK IN A BUN.

Première Pom & Premiere Pom I:
Please refer to the jazz instructions for Pom attire. Black jazz shoes and black-footed tights are required for recitals. 

Tap 1, 2, 3:
Dancers in tap may wear solid color clothing similar to that of hip hop.  Loose clothing is acceptable as long as it does not interfere with the movement expected in tap class.

Pre-Ballet
Leotards and skirts of any style with pink tights may be worn. Leotards with attached skirts are permitted. Pink ballet slippers are required. Dancers MUST ARRIVE WITH THEIR HAIR NEATLY PULLED BACK IN A BUN.
